Do I need to adopt, as a sole applicant, my child who was born out of wedlock?

Updated by MSF

This is a personal choice.

You may wish to seek legal advice regarding adopting a child out of wedlock to understand more about the benefits.

The consent of the other biological parent must be obtained. This includes the consent of the biological father, even if his name does not appear in the child’s Birth Certificate.
