What is mandatory counselling programme?
The Mandatory Counselling Programme is a counselling programme for family members who have used or experienced violence. This programme is administered and funded by the Ministry of Social and Family Development. Clients are placed on this programme when the Family Justice Courts issue a Counselling Order as part of its determination on an application for a Personal Protection Order by a victim of violence.
The programme aims to:
* prevent and stop abuse through learning to use more respectful behaviours to resolve family conflicts
* protect victims and vulnerable members of the family from abuse and provide them with support and help.
