What are the child protection measures in place for an alleged case of child abuse (by either the taking parent or left behind parent)?
Should the taking parent be the alleged perpetrator, the Court can order the Protective Service of the MSF to make an assessment on the welfare of the child. Should the assessment reveal any concerns, the Protective Service will commence investigations under the provisions provided by the Children and Young Persons Act (CYPA).
Should the left-behind parent be the alleged perpetrator, the Singapore Central Authority will request for the foreign Central Authority to liaise with community agencies on measures to ensure that the child will be protected and not be subjected to any harm upon return.
