A child care centre is open throughout the year except on Sundays, gazetted public holidays and up to 6 days of annual closure. In addition, centres may observe half-days on the eves of 3 major festivals such as Christmas, New Year, Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Puasa or Deepavali. Child care centres are allowed to close for up to 6 days in a year, including 1 day for Teachers’ Day. The centres may decide to close for other reasons such as staff training, curriculum planning or cleaning. The centre is required to give parents at least 2 months’ written notice prior to the closure day. Notice of closure days should also be displayed on the notice board for parents’ information.
