Are passenger and public data collected onboard autonomous vehicles protected?

Updated by MOT

Data collected onboard autonomous shuttles today – through cameras, sensors and GPS – is used only for navigation, safety and diagnostics, as well as investigation purposes, should the need arise. They are not used for tracking individuals. Operators are required to limit data collection and store it securely. The Government is also studying ways to enhance governance on autonomous vehicle data as deployment scales up.
