An individual who does not comply with the terms of an Isolation Order (IO) or a Quarantine Order (QO) issued to him/her, or otherwise refuses to co-operate with health officers seeking to carry out their duties under the Infectious Diseases Act 1976 may be liable for a criminal offence. If you fail to comply with this Order, you may be arrested without warrant. These are set out in Sections 15(4) and 56(3)(a) of the Act. The punishment for a first offence is a fine of up to $10,000 or a term of imprisonment not exceeding 6 months or both. For a second or subsequent offence, the punishment is a fine of up to $20,000 or a term of imprisonment not exceeding 12 months or both.
