As the security landscape evolves and the SAF’s spectrum of operations expands, we see a greater variety of roles in the SAF. In our job redesign efforts, we have been able to be more precise in determining the vocational requirements of different roles (e.g., difference in medical eligibility, physical conditions etc.). These differences in vocational requirements therefore allow us to determine the eligibility of roles, and the conditions of servicemen suitable for these roles. Some combat roles that NSFs enlisting into Programme 2 may be eligible for include sea soldiers, tank gunner and loader or combat security trooper.

Specific to NSFs enlisted into Programme 3, they will be eligible for some Combat Support roles that do not require high physical demands, and therefore better commensurate with their medical conditions. Such combat support roles include Signal operators and medics.
