What is a service injury?
A service injury is an injury deemed to be received in and attributable to service, if it is sustained under one of the following conditions: a. whilst on a journey necessary to enable the serviceman to report for duty or to return home after duty (e.g., an injury sustained while travelling directly from home to camp or vice versa. There should not be any detours made by the serviceman; or b. in consequence of an act lawfully performed in the discharge of the serviceman's duties (e.g., an injury sustained during training. The duty performed should be authorised by the serviceman's superior.
