Updated by MINDEF As part of MOH's healthcare policy, any patient who visits a Specialist at any community hospital or government/ restructured hospital directly, or request for a specific Consultant, will be tagged as a "private patient". This tagging will incur a first consultation fee, which is not covered by MINDEF's medical benefits. To prevent unnecessary medical charges, servicemen with service injuries should obtain a referral letter from a doctor at a polyclinic or government/restructured hospital before seeing a Specialist at the government restructured hospital. Alternatively, a referral letter from the unit Medical Officer will also suffice. Contact us
Why must I obtain a referral letter from a Polyclinic or unit Medical Officer before seeing a Specialist at the government/restructured hospital?
