PES A & B1 are both suitable for combat vocations. While individuals without any significant medical condition(s) will receive a PES A, individuals with certain minor condition(s) will be given a PES B1.

Pre-enlistees enlisting from Oct 2027 onwards will be graded under the refreshed MCS, instead of a single PES status (PES A to F). Medical screening for these pre-enlistees will commence from end June 2026 onwards.

Instead of a single PES status, pre-enlistees will now receive three key pieces of information: (i) their medical fitness status; (ii) medical exemptions based on their individual medical conditions and functional limitations; (iii) eligibility for eight-week reduction in full-time NS Duration. These exemptions provide a more detailed and precise assessment of what activities an individual can safely perform.
