How will MUP be paid to me?
Your employer will choose from one of the following payment methods:
1) Employers on Direct Reimbursement to Employers of Claims for NS Training (DIRECT) Scheme
2) Employers not on DIRECT Scheme
If your employer is on the DIRECT Scheme, you will continue to receive your usual salary per your employer's regular pay schedule, as though you had not been away from work. This includes the full sums of your basic monthly salary and ?xed monthly allowances you are eligible for, as well as additional payments (e.g., overtime pay) or variable payments (e.g., commissions) typically paid to you on a monthly basis. For additional and/or variable payments, your company can determine the amount they would have typically paid to you, based on an average of the past variable payments you received prior to your ORNS activity.
Your employer will be reimbursed by MINDEF/MHA.
If your civilian income is less than $1,600 a month (base NS Pay), MINDEF/MHA will credit the difference between the base NS Pay (pro-rated by the duration of your ORNS activity) and your civilian income loss directly to your bank account. Please ensure that your bank account details are updated via 'My Personal Information'.
If your employer is not on the DIRECT scheme, your employer will deduct your salary based on the amount of time you were away from work due to your ORNS activity. MINDEF/MHA will reimburse the auto-generated MUP amounts directly to your bank account number. Please ensure that your bank account details are updated via 'My Personal Information'.
