The intent of MUP is to ensure NSmen do not incur civilian income loss when attending NS activities. The computation methodology was adjusted after feedback from employers and NSmen to provide a more accurate estimate of income loss when an NSman attends ORNS activities. The MUP claims of ORNS activities that commence from 1 Feb 2025 onwards are computed based on: (a) the most recent Ordinary Wage (OW) amount; and (b) the monthly average of the AW received in at least 8 of the last 12 months after removing the two highest monthly AW values which are likely to be irregular payments such as bonuses. If you or your employer assess that you incurred a larger loss in regular income compared to the computed MUP amount, your employer may submit an appeal on the eService with the relevant supporting documents.
