I want to know more about the Immigration (Amendment) Act 2023. What were the 2023 amendments to the Immigration Act?
The Immigration (Amendment) Act was passed by Parliament on 18 September 2023. The bill introduces several amendments to the Immigration Act (IA), including to: • Digitalise and automate immigration processes; • Strengthen border controls, including empowering ICA officers to issue No-Boarding Directives; and • Enhance the administration of immigration passes and permits, including revising the Re-Entry Permit Application Process, and updating the Entry Permit and Re-Entry Permit conditions for PRs.
