Why is MGS not taking in DSA students through English and STEM Talent Areas after this year? Does it mean that MGS is trying to move away from academic talent areas for DSA?
Given the evolving educational landscape, we review our DSA talent areas from time to time, to ensure that the DSA scheme continues to be a pathway that enables us to recognise and develop a diverse range of talents and potential. Since 2004, we have removed and added talent areas at various junctures.
We decided to phase out EL and STEM DSA domains after 2026 following careful consideration of our school's strategic priorities, available resources and distinctive talent development programmes. Both EL and STEM remain important areas to develop our students in and we will continue to offer strong development opportunities in our curriculum and enrichment programmes. However, we are adjusting our talent areas at DSA to better focus on recognising diverse talents in areas not typically captured through conventional academic measures. Students who were previously admitted through DSA in these two areas will continue to benefit from the school's talent development opportunities in EL and STEM.
