Why should the charity provide reasons for their board members receiving remuneration?

Generally, board members should not receive remuneration for their board services. The charity’s governing instrument must expressly permit remuneration of the board members for their board services. Hence, if the board members are receiving remuneration, the charity should disclose in its annual report for transparency and accountability to its stakeholders.
