What changes are being made to My Legacy on 4 January 2027, and what do I need to do?
We’re changing how My Legacy helps you organise and access important information for you and your loved ones.
From 4 January 2027, My Legacy will no longer store certain information that is entered and maintained by users. Key legacy-planning information that is available from Government records will continue to be accessible through your dashboard.
What is changing?
My Legacy will discontinue the storage of personal information and funeral plans. This includes information such as important documents, financial accounts, bills and payments, properties, vehicles and digital accounts.
We are also working towards retrieving will-storage details directly from the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) Wills Registry, instead of requiring you to maintain a separate record in My Legacy. The Wills Registry was established by the Ministry of Law specifically to maintain information about wills and is now managed by SAL.
During this transition, you will not be able to store or update will details in My Legacy.
What will happen to information I have already stored?
On 4 January 2027, all personal information, will records and funeral plans stored in My Legacy will be permanently deleted.
After this date, these records will no longer be accessible to you or any Trusted Persons you have shared them with.
Your Advance Care Plan, CPF nomination and Lasting Power of Attorney are not affected. These will continue to be synced to your account, and Trusted Persons you have shared them with will continue to have access.
What do I need to do before 4 January 2027?
If you have personal information or a funeral plan stored in My Legacy:
Download the information you wish to keep and decide how you would like to store or share it with your loved ones or Trusted Persons.
If you have a will record stored in My Legacy:
You may consider depositing your will record with the SAL Wills Registry. Fees apply.
We are working towards retrieving will-storage information from the SAL Wills Registry through My Legacy, so that this information can be obtained from the dedicated Wills Registry instead of being separately entered and maintained by users in My Legacy.
If someone has shared information with you as a Trusted Person:
You will no longer have access to the affected information after 4 January 2027. Please speak to the person who shared the information with you about how they would like to keep you informed.
Why is My Legacy making these changes?
We recognise that some users have found these features useful for keeping important information together for themselves and their loved ones.
The underlying need remains important. What we are changing is how My Legacy supports it.
Today, information in these sections is entered and maintained by users. It can change over time, and users may also maintain the same or related information elsewhere. This means My Legacy can become another place that users need to remember to keep updated.
Where relevant information can be obtained from an existing authoritative source, we want to move towards helping you access it from that source rather than requiring you to maintain another copy in My Legacy. Our work towards retrieving will-record information from the SAL Wills Registry is one example of this approach.
For information that individuals need to maintain themselves, for example personal or digital account information, you can download what you have stored in My Legacy and choose how best to keep and share it with the people who may need it.
My Legacy will continue to focus on helping you and your loved ones access important legacy-planning information and services, including information from Government records such as your Advance Care Plan, CPF nomination and Lasting Power of Attorney.
