If a property owner passes away and their children inherit the property, is Seller’s Stamp Duty (SSD) payable if the children sell the property immediately?
For properties acquired pursuant to inheritance, the date of acquisition for SSD purposes will be based on the date the property was first acquired by the deceased. If the holding period had already elapsed on the date of sale of the property, no SSD is payable.
You may refer to Seller's Stamp Duty (SSD) for more information on SSD and its stipulated holding period.

My wife and I purchased a private residential property on 1 Oct 2005. On 10 Mar 2022, my wife transferred her half share of the property to me by way of gift. As a result, I became the sole owner of the property. I sold the property on 1 Sep 2022. As I have been an owner and occupant of the property since 1 Oct 2005, do I need to pay Seller's Stamp Duty (SSD) on the sale?
