Will a Singapore Citizen purchasing an HDB flat jointly with a spouse who is either a Singapore Permanent Resident (SPR) or a Foreigner incur Additional Buyer's Stamp Duty (ABSD)?
ABSD is fully remitted under the Acquisition of HDB Flats and new Executive Condominium (EC) Units Remission, if any of the joint acquirers/ purchasers is a Singapore Citizen.
1. Remission is granted automatically upon approval of the acquisition by HDB.
2. Remission is not applicable for Resale EC.
Therefore, ABSD is not payable for the joint purchase of a Singapore Citizen and a SPR/Foreigner.
