If I am in the process of obtaining my Singapore Citizenship or Singapore Permanent Resident at the time of purchase, can I later apply for a remission to enjoy lower Additional Buyer’s Stamp Duty (ABSD) rates based on my new status?

The ABSD payable amount is based on the profile of the purchaser and the count of residential properties owned as at the date of purchase.

You must have been granted the Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident status by the Immigration and Checkpoint Authority (ICA) as at the date of property purchase to enjoy lower ABSD liability. The date of issue reflected in the IC collection slip would be taken as when the status was granted.

You will not be able to apply for remission for lower ABSD rates in the event that you are granted the Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident status after the purchase.
