I am a Singapore Citizen married to a Singapore Permanent Resident. We jointly own a private apartment. If we buy another completed house jointly, what is the Additional Buyer’s Stamp Duty (ABSD) payable by us?

For purchases involving two or more buyers with different profiles, the higher applicable ABSD rate will apply.

If your spouse is a Singapore Permanent Resident or a foreigner and the joint purchase of the new house is your second residential property, you will be required to pay ABSD at the applicable rate on the higher of the purchase price or market value.

In the event that you sell/dispose of your private apartment within 6 months from the date of purchasing the new house, you might qualify for an ABSD refund under the ABSD Remission for a Married Couple.
