I am a Singapore Citizen married to an Singapore Permanent Resident. Both of us do not own any property in Singapore. If we jointly purchase our first matrimonial home, do we need to pay Additional Buyer’s Stamp Duty (ABSD)?
A married couple with at least one Singapore Citizen spouse, jointly purchasing a residential property and both the spouses do not own any residential property at the time of purchase, may be eligible for upfront ABSD remission; refer to ABSD Remission for a Married Couple.
If all conditions are met, ABSD will not be payable on the purchase of the 1st matrimonial property.

If Remission of ABSD for a Married Couple is granted for a couple’s joint purchase of their first matrimonial property (where one spouse is a Singapore Citizen and the other is a Singapore Permanent Resident), will the remission be clawed back if the Singapore Citizen subsequently buys over the SPR’s share of the property?
