I am a Singapore citizen planning to jointly purchase our first matrimonial home with my foreign spouse. As this is our first property, are we required to pay Additional Buyer's Stamp Duty (ABSD)?
No. ABSD is not payable on the joint purchase of a residential property by a married couple where at least one spouse is a Singapore citizen, provided neither spouse owns any residential property at the time of purchase.
This is in accordance with the Remission of ABSD for a Married Couple.
