Is there a letter issued by the IPOS containing a history of recording the transfer of registered trademark rights due to the sale and purchase of registered trademark rights? how to record the transfer of trademark rights based on a sale and purchase agreement.

For the transfer of ownership of a trademark, you will need to lodge Form CM 8 (e-file) with a fee of $70.00. The form is for the purpose of updating IPOS records and not a legal document. You will need to prepare a legal document, usually in the format of a Deed of Assignment or any relevant document to show the legal transfer of ownership. This document should be completed first before lodging Form CM 8.

When efiling, you will need to create a new account at https://digitalhub.ipos.gov.sg if you have not done so.

For more information about trade mark transfer of ownership or assignment, please refer to the ‘Work Manual, Chapter 22 at the following link.
