If you are in Singapore and your passport has expired, you can continue to reside in Singapore as a permanent resident (PR), but you will not be able to travel. Hence, it is advisable for you to obtain a new passport and thereafter apply to renew your re-entry permit (REP) as soon as possible or transfer your valid REP online. Please note that a passport must have at least 3 months validity in order to make an REP application online via the e-Service. If you are outside Singapore without a valid REP, you have to apply for an REP within 180 days from the date you are first physically outside Singapore without a valid REP to retain your PR status.

The REP application is subject to approval on a case-by-case basis. If you had applied for a new REP within the 180-day period, you will remain a PR until there is an outcome to your REP application. If your REP application is unsuccessful, you will lose your PR status the day after the REP application outcome is sent to you.

You will also lose your PR status automatically if you do not apply for a new REP within this 180-day period.
