Unless there are exceptional circumstances, CDA no longer mandates the closure of preschools due to HFMD outbreak because this measure has been found to have a limited effect, and the virus can be reintroduced once the preschool reopens. Instead, the key to controlling the spread of HFMD lies in early detection and isolation of cases, as well as good personal and environmental hygiene. CDA and ECDA work closely together to monitor the number of cases, provide guidance to preschools and ensure that preschools exercise vigilance in their management of infectious diseases.
