What are acceptable ways for preschool staff to guide and manage child behaviour in preschools.
Safety of Children
Preschools have a set of child-safe policies and comprehensive SOPs on child guidance and behaviour management.
Staff members should use positive and developmentally appropriate methods of guidance and management to encourage positive behaviours such as redirecting the child from negative situations to other activities.
Educator-child interactions should be respectful, responsive and reciprocal to support every child’s acquisition of skills for life and learning. educators should also be sensitive to the children’s needs, responses and cues and model positive social interaction to the children.
