What safeguards are in place to ensure that the information collected is only shared with others for the specified purpose(s)?

Singapore Customs officers are required to assess any request for information and seek approval from the relevant authority or obtain prior written consent from the person to whom the information relates, before the information can be shared with other local / overseas agencies.

Any person who discloses any information submitted or given without the approval of the relevant authority, or prior written consent from the person to whom the information relates, shall be guilty of an offence. This person shall then be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $6,000, or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months, or to both.
