I have a Less-than-Container Load (LCL) container. Am I allowed to unstuff it outside the Free Trade Zone (FTZ)?
A Less than Container Load (LCL) container is a container with goods meant for more than one consignee or with goods from more than one consignor.
A local LCL container (that does not contain any transhipment goods) consigned to a single party (e.g. freight forwarder or trading company) could be unstuffed outside the Free Trade Zone (FTZ), subject to the following conditions:
- All the inbound goods in the LCL container must be covered by relevant Customs permit; and
- If there are any duty or GST suspended goods meant for storage in licensed premises, the container must first be unstuffed in such approved premises only. The remaining goods which are duty or GST paid can either be unstuffed at the approved premise or at the importer or freight forwarder's premise subsequently.
