The Silver Support (SS) Scheme is targeted at seniors who had low incomes during their working years and now have little or no family support and resources in their retirement.
 
To automatically identify seniors who are eligible for SS, the Government has to rely on available data as broad indicators of an individual’s ability to save for retirement, access to resources and family support.

 

We have relied on the monthly per capita household income as a broad indicator of the level of family support available.
