Can I use my CPF savings to pay for HDB upgrading costs or the recess area of my HDB flat?

Yes, you can use your CPF Ordinary Account (OA) savings for both HDB upgrading costs and recess area purchases:

For HDB Upgrading Costs: You can pay through either of these methods:

1. Online Application

  • Visit HDB's website and log in with Singpass
  • Navigate to: e-Services > Residential > Living in an HDB flat > Make Housing Payments
  • Processing time: three working days upon the receipt of your request from HDB

2. In-person at HDB Branch 

  • Complete the CPF withdrawal form (PHS10)
  • Book an appointment via the e-Appointment system before visiting
  • Processing time: three to five working days upon the receipt of your request from HDB

For Recess Area Purchase: The application process varies depending on your loan type:

If you have an HDB loan:

1. Online Application

  • Visit HDB's website and log in with Singpass
  • Navigate to: e-Services > Residential > Living in an HDB flat > Apply to Purchase Recess Area 
  • Processing time: three working days upon the receipt of your request from HDB

2. In-person at HDB Branch

  • Complete the CPF withdrawal form (PHS9)
  • Book an appointment via the e-Appointment system before visiting
  • Processing time: three to five working days upon the receipt of your request from HDB

If you have a bank loan:

  • Make an appointment at any CPF Service Centre to submit your request. Please bring:
    • HDB’s letter of approval for the purchase of the recess area
    • A copy of the legal bill (if you are applying to use CPF savings for legal fees)
  • If you are a lawyer representing the member,  you may write to us to submit the request.
