Why is the pilot only open to individuals who are 40 years old and above? Are there plans for the programme to be rolled out to younger individuals in the future?

This pilot programme is introduced in support of Healthier SG. As such, for a start, the pilot will focus on those aged 40 and above, which is the age criteria for the Healthier SG enrolment programme.

We will study the outcomes of the pilot before deciding whether premium discounts should be made a permanent feature of the MediShield Life scheme, and whether the discounts should be extended to younger individuals.

Under Healthier SG, all Singapore residents are encouraged to stay active and live healthily, such as by participating in programmes offered by the People’s Association (PA), Sport SG and the Health Promotion Board (HPB). All Singapore residents can participate in Healthy 365 programmes and challenges, to earn and redeem Healthpoints. Regardless of age, healthier lifestyles generally lead to better health outcomes and reduced healthcare utilisation.
