Can I use my MediSave to pay for my family member’s hospitalisation expenses?
If your approved dependants do not have sufficient MediSave for their hospitalisation expenses, you may consider using your MediSave to pay for them. Approved dependants refer to a member’s spouse, children, parents, grandparents and siblings. They can be of any nationality except for grandparents and siblings who must be Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents.
It is important to note that while your approved dependants can tap on your MediSave, the amount they can use is still subject to the MediSave withdrawal limits, which is applied on a per hospitalisation episode basis. If they still have outstanding hospitalisation expenses after using up to the MediSave withdrawal limit, they would have to pay the remainder in cash.
For more information, please speak to the staff at the hospital's Business Office.
You should use your MediSave prudently to provide for your own and your approved dependants’ hospitalisation needs. This is because you may require more medical care in your old age.
Should you wish to use your MediSave for your approved dependants’ hospitalisation expenses, you may approach the hospital where they are receiving treatment at to sign the Medical Claims Authorisation Form (MCAF). The hospital will then submit the claim to us and payment from your MediSave will be made directly to the hospital.
