Do I have to pay Additional Premium (AP) for pre-existing conditions if I have an Integrated Shield Plan (IP), and would these conditions be covered after AP is paid?
An Integrated Shield Plan (IP) comprises two parts, namely the MediShield Life (MSL) and the additional private insurance component. MSL is sized for B2/C wards at Government hospitals, while the additional private insurance is sized for A/B1 wards at Government hospitals and private hospitals.
The 30% Additional Premium (AP) for serious pre-existing medical conditions is only applicable to the MSL component of your IP premiums.
For the additional private insurance coverage component, it will be separately assessed by your IP insurer. Generally, private insurers exclude pre-existing medical conditions from their coverage. You should contact your IP insurer to find out more.
