Will I receive hospitalisation subsidies if I choose A ward type in public hospital or choose to go to a private hospital?

You will not receive any hospitalisation subsidy in an A ward type in a public hospital or at a private hospital. Hence, if you are inclined to stay in an A ward in a public hospital or go to a private hospital for treatment, you should consider an Integrated Shield Plan (IP) that covers the cost for the particular ward/hospital type.
