For those who have the means but choose not to pay their MediShield Life and/or CareShield Life premiums despite reminders, a strong set of premium recovery measures will be taken.

The premium recovery measures include:
  1. Appointment of defaulter’s agents (such as the defaulter’s employers, banks and tenants) to recover the outstanding premiums
  2. Offsetting outstanding premiums against one-off Government surplus-sharing transfers (e.g. Growth Dividends)
  3. Recovery from CPF monies that are being withdrawn in cash
  4. Imposition of travel restrictions in certain circumstances
  5. Legal action to recover the arrears
Those who persistently delay premium payment may be imposed compounded interests of 4% and penalties of up to 17% on outstanding premiums.

The Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) and the CPF Board are the recovery bodies responsible for imposing premium recovery measures under the MediShield Life Scheme Act. You should fully pay your outstanding premiums to avoid enforcement actions. Please refer to this link to find out how to view and pay for your/your dependent(s)’s outstanding MediShield Life premiums.
