How can I apply for hearing aids under the Seniors' Mobility and Enabling Fund (SMF)?
SMF subsidy for hearing aids requires assessment by a qualified audiologist at the Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) clinics at Restructured Hospitals and can only be applied through the Restructured Hospitals (RH).
If your loved one is not receiving care at any of these locations, you can visit the doctor at the polyclinic or a CHAS clinic for a referral to the Ear, Nose, Throat (ENT) department of a RH.
When the senior visits the audiologist, he/she will assess the need and suitability for a hearing aid. Thereafter, if the senior meets the criteria for a subsidised hearing aid under the SMF, the audiologist will assist in putting up an application on the senior's behalf.
