Will I definitely receive a kidney when I am called in for transplant?

Updated by SGH-TRANSPLANTPEDIA

Not always. Being called in means you have been shortlisted, but the transplant may not go ahead.
This is because further tests are needed to make sure:
The kidney is a good match for you
You are fit for surgery at that time

Sometimes, the transplant may not proceed after these checks. Your doctors will explain the situation and guide you on the next steps.
