I have heard about pancreas–kidney transplant. What is that?

Updated by SGH-TRANSPLANTPEDIA

This is a combined transplant of both a kidney and pancreas.
It is usually considered for patients who:
- Have kidney failure, and
- Have diabetes requiring insulin
This type of transplant can treat both kidney failure and diabetes.
However, it is more complex, and not everyone is suitable. Your doctors will assess this carefully on a case-by-case basis.
