Can I have an ultrasound abdomen/hepatobiliary system after barium studies?

It is not recommended to have an abdominal ultrasound immediately after a barium study. A barium study can significantly degrade the quality of a subsequent abdominal ultrasound. Ideally, the ultrasound should be scheduled before the barium study or allow time (ideally 24 hours) for the barium to clear.
