Is it normal to still have swelling weeks after ankle surgery?

Updated by SGH-AHPEDIA
Yes, swelling can persist for several weeks or even months after ankle surgery. It usually improves gradually as you begin moving more and as the tissues heal. Elevation, gentle movement and prescribed exercises help reduce swelling. However, sudden increases in swelling, heat or redness should be reviewed by your doctor or physiotherapist.
