Speech apraxia is a condition that affects your ability to coordinate and control the muscle movements needed for clear speech. It's not a problem with muscle weakness, but rather with the brain's ability to plan and sequence the precise movements required to produce speech sounds accurately. Key signs include difficulty copying mouth movements for speech, mixing up sounds within words, making different mistakes each time you say the same word, and having unusually long pauses or hesitations during speech. In severe cases, you might have trouble producing any sounds at all.
