What is a laryngectomy and how does it affect me?

Updated by SGH-AHPEDIA
A laryngectomy is the removal of the voice box (larynx). This permanently changes how you breathe (through a stoma in your neck) and speak (requiring alternative methods like an electrolarynx, voice prosthesis or oesophageal speech).
