Should I exercise my facial muscles to speed up recovery following facial palsy?

Updated by SGH-AHPEDIA
No, in the initial stage of onset, avoid big facial movements and overworking your facial muscles, as this may actually hinder your recovery. Exercise will not speed up the process if your facial nerve hasn't recovered yet. Give your nerve time to heal naturally. Consult a Speech Therapist when you start noticing some return of facial movements. We will provide you with advice when it is suitable to start exercises.
