Recovery is gradual. For the first 4 days, strict voice rest is required. From days 5-14, minimal voice use is allowed (5 minutes per hour). By days 15-21, you can use your voice for about 30 minutes per hour. After 21 days, you may return to normal vocal load but should avoid shouting or screaming. You may be referred to a Speech Therapist to provide you with vocal exercises and guidelines to avoid trauma to the vocal cords.
