What if I'm pregnant - can I still have my X-ray?

Please tell us immediately if you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant. We avoid X-rays during pregnancy whenever possible to protect your developing baby. Depending on what type of X-ray you need and how urgent it is, we may:

  • Use alternative imaging like ultrasound or MRI

  • Postpone the X-ray if it's not urgent

  • Use special protection and minimal radiation if the X-ray is essential Your safety and your baby's safety are our top priority.
