While both Dietitians and Nutritionists work in the field of nutrition, there are key differences:

- Dietitians are qualified healthcare professionals trained in medical nutrition therapy. They work in hospitals, clinics, and community health settings. In Singapore, Dietitians are required to have recognised qualifications and clinical training to assess, diagnose, and treat diet-related health conditions.

- Nutritionists may have academic training in nutrition science but do not require clinical training. They typically work in public health, research, food service, or wellness sectors but do not provide medical nutrition therapy for disease conditions.

At Singapore General Hospital, only qualified Dietitians provide individualised nutrition care as part of the medical team.
