I have received a Notice of Consultation. What do I need to do now?

Updated by SGCOURTS

If someone has commenced a Claim against you in the SCT, you are the Respondent. The person who filed the claim is the Claimant.

After you receive a Notice of Consultation, take note of the date, time and venue of the Consultation on the notice. You must attend this Consultation, where a registrar will attempt to resolve the dispute.

If the matter cannot be settled, the claim may proceed to a Hearing before a Tribunal Magistrate.

If you do not turn up, the SCT can still make an order against you, such as a default Order.

Information on what you should prepare before attending a Consultation can be found here: https://www.judiciary.gov.sg/civil/before-going-to-court-small-claim

In addition, the Notice of Consultation will contain the Claim number and a one-time reference number. You should use the Claim number and one-time reference number to access the case filed against you on CJTS. Please refer to the SCT User Guide on CJTS if you require further information.
