To qualify as a bailor, the person must generally meet the following criteria:

  • Citizenship/Residency: Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident.

  • Age: 21 years old and above.

  • Must not be a bankrupt or facing criminal charges.

The Court has the ultimate discretion in determining whether a person is suitable to act as a bailor. If the Court does not believe that the proposed bailor can secure the accused's attendance for Court events, it may disqualify the person from being one.
