How is the bail or personal bond amount determined by the Court?

The bail amount is determined by the Court based on several considerations. Such considerations may include:

  • Nature, number, and seriousness of the offence(s) committed

  • Severity of the prescribed punishments for the offence(s)

  • Character (including criminal history), financial means and standing of the accused

  • Potential Flight Risk or threat to public safety

  • Likelihood of compliance with the bail or personal bond conditions
