What is Bail?
Bail refers to property or money offered to the Court to ensure that an accused will continue to attend all Court hearings after being arrested and charged before being released from remand. If bail is granted, a surety or bailor must be willing and able to provide security for the bail ordered by the Court.
Once bail is furnished, the accused will be released on bail. The bailor has a duty to ensure the accused attends Court as required. If an accused is a minor, the Court may require the bailor to be a parent or legal guardian.
